Dental Veneers
The application of dental veneers is a great way to make a dramatic change in the look of your teeth in just two office visits. They provide us a way to change the face of your teeth using a less invasive alternative of a dental crown. The veneer is a razor-thin, custom-fabricated shell of porcelain that fits over the front surface of a tooth. We can apply them to any of your most visible front teeth. With veneers we can change:

The Size of the Tooth: We can adjust the width of the tooth, closing gaps or helping them fit better in your mouth.

The Length of the Tooth: We can adjust the length of the tooth, making it appear longer or shorter to make the tooth more even in your mouth.

The Shape of the Tooth: We can alter the appearance of the positioning on the tooth if the tooth is twisted, angled out of alignment, or misshapen. Additionally, we can cover chips, cracks and fractures.

Dental veneers can be fabricated using porcelain or ceramic, which is ideal due to their coloring and translucency.
Dental Veneer Placement
Dental veneers are placed over two appointments. During your first appointment, Dr. Ron Hickerson will review your options with you and discuss what you are hoping to achieve. We will then create an impression of the tooth and surrounding area, we want to ensure a good fit and bite with the finished product. We will then prep the natural tooth by removing a small amount of the enamel from the face of the tooth, this is done to create room for the veneer. This is a minimally disruptive step that is done with just a local anesthetic. We will place a temporary veneer until the final one is ready and the impression is sent to a dental lab to fabricate your final veneer.
We will contact you when the fabricated veneer is completed for your second appointment. During this appointment, we will clean and prepare the tooth with a slight etch performed on the surface of the tooth, which will help strengthen the bond between the enamel and the veneer. Before bonding in place, we will check the fit and make any adjustments as needed. Once satisfied, the veneer is then permanently bonded to the tooth.
Dental Bonding
Dental bonding requires a professional eye. We can make small repairs to your teeth using a putty-like substance known as composite filler, which is the same product we use to fill teeth following the removal of decay. Composite filler is made up of a blend of quartz and resin, which can be tinted to match the color of your teeth and contains a translucency that helps it blend in perfectly with your enamel.
